My Reason for Drawing

I really love drawing, just simple drawings helps me relax and gives me joy, drawing stuff with just pencils or black ballpens, no need for coloring materials, just simple art either on a sketch pad or a boring notebook that I use in class.

When I was still a child, I remember my mother teaching me how to draw Snoopy, every day I practice drawing that dog, when I got the hang of it, she made me draw costumes on Snoopy, I made a policeman snoopy, a fireman snoopy, a soldier snoopy and even a cyborg snoopy, then my mother told me that I can draw anything I want now, then I draw her, I really did an awful job doing it but my sweet mother still complemented me with it, and said I did great.

Now every time I draw, I remember my sweet mother who had passed away when I was still young. I draw not because I’m bored or have nothing else to do, but I draw because I don’t want those memories to fade away. Even now that I’m at college I still draw whenever I miss my mother.

My First Print AD
This is the first print ad that I’ve ever made, this serves as my prelim project for my advertising production subject when I was still in 3rd year college. I was so happy with this because not only that I have learned a lot on how to do print ads using adobe photoshop and other cool editing software, but also this first print ad that I ever made won a medal for “Best in Print ad” in the ALAB 2014 (Awards for Lasallian Advertising Breakthrough).

After the event, I realize that I want to learn more about advertising. Especially things that can help me improve my work. Because I know that I still have a lot to learn before I can create ads that are really amazing. So I decided that when I graduate from college, if I will have the opportunity to work for an advertising company I would definitely take it. Because I will be able to do what I love, learn more about it and getting paid to it, for me that is my definition of perfect job.

DOTA

Why is Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) a popular game? Based on my own experience and observation, people play DOTA to earn prizes in competitions, to pass the time, to earn money by betting on a game, and to know who is the better gamer.

It’s not just a simple game of destroying your opponent’s base and then the game over, you’ll need to develop a good strategy, analyze everything your opponent and teammates do in the game, learn every hero and item and build great teamwork for you to win the game.

For people who treat this game as a joke or a waste of time, well you’re wrong, for us players, it’s a way we pass our time and have fun, we all have our own way of entertaining ourselves, ours is playing this great game. I think it will only be considered bad or wrong if you get addicted to it and wasting your whole day playing, but if you just played whenever you have a free schedule.  Maybe we can just treat it just like a hobby.

I've been playing DOTA many years now, I think the key to not get addicted to it is to know your priority such as your education, your family and friends etc. if you know what it’s really important you’ll never get addicted to the game.

Wrath of Typhoon Glenda

June 16, 2014 after the attack of typhoon Glenda, I went outside my dorm and this is what I saw, nearby establishments were damaged by the typhoon, leaves were everywhere and some roads were covered with it. Many trees were torn apart, it’s like a giant ripped them off their roots, and some trees were still dangling from electric cables. I never thought that in a few hours this kind of devastation had happened.

I believe it will be difficult not only for Dasma but in other places as well to recover from this kind of catastrophe. People will have a hard time finding shelter and food for their families. Many might be suffering from massive injuries and some of them might be dead already. My only hope is that the government will act fast and do the best they can to help those people who are in need of their support, and the people to help each other out in these tough times.

Online Games

Online games tends to be addictive for most people. When they are playing, they'll have the chance to compete with other people, also communicate with them and acquire new friends through the game. But too much of this is not good, you'll lack direct contact with other people, you'll waste time, money and effort just playing the game and sometimes you'll have health problems because of your extensive playing.

Don't get too addicted to this stuff, explore the outside world, meet real people who you can talk and bond with face to face, play activities that really requires you to move and have fun in reality. Don’t forget the things that are more important, don't waste your time playing games on your computer, laptop, tab etc. go outside and appreciate the things that no gadget or technology can give you.

So have fun not online but offline
